Snarky QotD
Chandler Burr seems to be trying to take over the snarky perfume quote crown from Luca Turin.

Danielle by Danielle Steel was like the pile of trash that Danielle Steel stepped over on her way to the creative meeting. For the first four seconds it smelled sort of vaguely like a kind of flower that you get in a gallon of floral-scented laundry detergent, and then for five seconds it reminded you of Edvard Munch’s “The Scream.” Then it evaporated, like the prose in a novel by Danielle Steel evaporated from your memory the moment you read it. It was a perfume that, instead of being made by human beings, was made by a faceless, soulless committee like Elizabeth Arden Internal Creative Team. And at that point there was nothing more to say about it.

The entire review is hilarious. Read it.

Well...there are always going to be those who use criticism as a way to establish their superior level of knowledge about something.

Me, I feel that if it isn't constructive criticism, it only belongs in the humour section....it's funny, but it's just...not nice.

And I think, the minute someone laughs at someone else, s/he is lowering hesself to the level of the person/thing being laughed at.

Sounding very prissy, aren't I? But I think humour is one thing, and destructive criticism parading as humour is another.

Also, who is this person to arbitrate on whether a scent is good or not? A scent is such a subjective thing....I remember hating even the faint whiff of the "Cunega" scent from old issues of Kumudam magazine, and apparently it was a hot favourite. The same for "Charlie", which was very popular.

Sorry, I think you just meant for us to enjoy the humour, not preach about its aptness!
